I want my city to be a safe, environmentely sustainapace for everyone to live, including the wildlife.

Southampton needs to be a national park city, it is essential for encouraging people's connection to nature, for cleaner air, for our wildlife and biodiversity. For families and adults to have access and not be surrounded by buildings 24/7.
Jeremy Smallwood
Southampton has many green spaces - but these should be better cared for (for nature) and extended, linked up and otherwise made better for both wildlife and people. The potential benefits are well established in terms of mental health, biodiversity, fighting climate change, reducing hot weather city temperature, cleaner air, need I go on??

As a member of a local running club we make extensive use of Southampton's open spaces for our training (the Common, sports center and surrounding area, Riverside Park etc.) - anything that can protect and enhance them is to be welcomed.

Professor Karen Stanton
Solent University
The city’s green spaces are truly important to the University’s students and staff – allowing them to enjoy time outdoors, connect with nature and improve their wellbeing. Becoming a National Park City would enable our students to continue developing their plant and produce growing initiatives, in partnership with the wider community.
