MAISON AMOURA
This project involved providing safe and accessible outdoor experiences for young girls in the SO14 postcode. Links to the Instagram page for more information can be found here.
Proposed by Fiza Jan, Maison Amoura grew from the experience of young girls in her neighbourhood missing out on experiencing outdoor spaces, whether for physical exercise or socialising. Her aim was to design girl only spaces to build a sense of confidence and belonging, especially for girls from families that feel worried about girls taking a first step of independence.
Fiza designed fun and relaxing sessions focused around using outdoor parks and green spaces. Running the sessions during several weeks in the summer 2026, the engagement sessions involved creative and artistic activities, as well as light exercise such as badminton, with shared food and picnics. In these sessions, girls were encouraged to relax and make new friendships, even in the setting of a public park, places where they typically wouldn't be encouraged to explore.
With the materials purchased Fiza hopes to continue delivering activities for young women in her area, with ongoing support from The Agency of Change.
